1. How can electrolysis treatment help me?

   This extremely effective treatment can be used for everything from lumps and bumps on the skin, to scarring, skin growths and unwanted hair. The treatment has been in used for over 100 years and is noted for being a low-pain procedure. Any skin growths must be cleared by a doctor before treatment.

2. What happens during an appointment?

   Electrolysis treatment is delivered to the affected area via a small probe, with an electric current passed through it. There are different size probes that can be used, according to the problem and area being treated. It’s comfortable, safe and effective.

3. How long do results take?

   It depends on the problem being treated, and factors such as lifestyle, genetics, medications etc. We may be able to give you an idea of this during your consultation.

4. How long do the results last?

   Again, this depends on your concern, however it is permanent in many cases, such as hair removal. When treating problems such as warts, it is still possible to develop them in other areas following treatment.

5. Will I need other treatments?

   In some cases, there are alternatives you can try. For example, chemical peels and microneedling are two alternative treatments for acne scarring. We’ll be able to advise you on other treatments, and our own recommendations, during your consultation.

6. Are there any risks related to electrolysis treatment?

   You may feel the current during treatment. Afterwards, skin may be sore, inflamed or red. There are also risks, such as scarring and pigmentation, which can happen in rare cases. Of course, these risks are greatly reduced when you book in with a reputable clinic such as ourselves.

7. What is the recovery time?

   There’s usually minimal-to-no recovery time needed – you should be able to carry on with your normal activities, including work, after your treatment.

8. What will my results look like?

   In some cases, repeat treatments are recommended, such as those targeting unwanted hair or scarring. In other cases – for instance, warts – a single treatment may be enough. For those procedures that are only needed once, you should notice results in the space of a week.

9. How do I care for my skin afterwards?

   Keep the treated skin clean and dry and if crusts or scabs form, don’t pick the skin – even if it itches. Avoid sunlight, heat treatments (e.g. spas), make-up, perfumed products and high-impact exercise.
