1. What is masseter treatment?

   Masseter treatment involves using Botox injections to slim and contour your face. It reduces the size of enlarged masseter muscles to give you a more attractive appearance.

2. What causes the masseter muscle to enlarge?

   Bruxism is the medical name for the act of grinding your teeth. It usually takes place at night, when you are asleep and unaware of your actions. This condition causes overstimulation, and consequently enlargement, of the masseter muscle.

3. How does Botox reduce the size of the masseter muscle?

   Botox relaxes overstimulated muscles. Once Botox is injected into the masseter muscle it contracts less and is not provoked into growing larger through extra use.

4. What happens during masseter treatment?

   During masseter treatment 2 or 3 Botox injections are expertly administered into each side of the lower face.

5. What do I need to avoid following masseter treatment?

   Following your masseter treatment, Dr Ejikeme will advise you on what you can and cannot do immediately following treatment. Touching the injection sites, lying on the masseter muscle, strenuous exercise, leaning over too far, and drinking alcohol should not be undertaken for at least a couple of days.

6. How long before I see results?

   You’ll start to see results just 2-5 days after treatment. 10-14 days later, the full effects of the results will be visible. Your face should look slimmer in a more attractive way.

7. How long will I maintain my new slimmer face?

   You should retain your new, more appealing appearance for 3 to 4 months, after which point you can book a top up treatment to refresh the results.

8. Are there any side effects with masseter treatment?

   You’re unlikely to have any serious side effects with masseter treatment, but you might experience a dry mouth, some mild muscle stiffness, or redness at the injection site.

9. Is it safe?

   Botox treatment for an enlarged masseter muscle is suitable for most patients. It has been approved by the FDA and has an excellent safety record.

10. How much slimmer will my face be after masseter reduction?

    Dr Ejikeme will discuss the changes you can expect to see in your facial appearance during your pre-treatment appointment. It has been widely reported that you can expect to lose the appearance of 5 pounds off your face.
